The aim of this article is to obtain conditions ensuring asymptotic stability and stabilization of semilinear fractional-order systems with Caputo derivative with fractional order between 0 and 2. First the authors consider the following system of fractional differential equations: \[ ^C_0D^\alpha_t x(t) = A x(t) + f(t, x(t)),\tag{1} \] where \(x(t) = (x_1(t), x_2(t), \dots , x_n(t))^T \in \mathbb{R}^n \) denotes the state vector of the system, \(\alpha \in (0, 2)\) is the order of the fractional-order Caputo derivative, \(f : [0,\infty) \times \mathbb{R}^n \to \mathbb{R}^n\) defines a nonlinear vector field in the \(n\)-dimensional vector space and \(A \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n}\) is a constant matrix. For this equation, there are obtained results for existence and uniqueness of the solutions and sufficient conditions for local asymptotical stability of the zero solution. Then the authors extend their ideas to the stabilization theory and consider a controlled system of the following form: \[ ^C_0D^\alpha_t x(t) = A x(t) + f(t, x(t)) + B u(t),\tag{2} \] where \(\alpha\), \(x\), \(A\) and \(f\) are as in system (1), \(B \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n}\) is the input matrix and \(u\) is the control input. Choosing \(u\) to be a linear state feedback control, i.e. \(u=Kx\) for some feedback gains \(K\), the authors prove sufficient conditions the controlled system (2) to be locally asymptotically stable. Some numerical examples are also provided to illustrate the proposed approach.
