As main result of this paper the author proves that the separating pair subspace of every epimorphism \((\varphi^+, \varphi^-)\) from a Banach-Jordan pair \(V\) onto a Banach-Jordan pair \(W\) is contained in the Jacobson radical of \(W\), and, as a consequence, such an epimorphism is continuous whenever the Banach-Jordan pair \(W\) is semiprimitive. This generalizes Aupetit's theorem for epimorphisms between Banach-Jordan algebra, and has, as a corollary, Johnson's theorem on the uniqueness of the complete norm topology in any semisimple Banach algebra.
