Let \(A,\tilde{A}\in\mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\) and let \(\{d_1,\dots,d_n\}\) be an orthonormal basis in \(\mathbb{C}^n\). The author proves that \[ |\det{A}-\det{\tilde{A}}|\le q\prod_{k=1}^n\Big(1+\frac{1}{2}\big(\|(A+\tilde{A})d_k\|+\|(A-\tilde{A})d_k\|\big)\Big), \] where \(\|\cdot\|\) is the Euclidean norm and \[ q=\max_k\|(A-\tilde{A})d_k\|. \] He also gives a sufficient condition, under which this inequality refines the well-known inequality \[ |\det{A}-\det{\tilde{A}}|\le nM^{n-1}\|A-\tilde{A}\|, \] where \(\|\cdot\|\) is the spectral norm and \(M=\max{(\|A\|,\|\tilde{A}\|)}\).
