Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded open set in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) and \(0<\lambda_1(\Omega)\leq \lambda_2(\Omega) \ldots\) the eigenvalues of the Laplacian on \(\Omega\) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This paper addresses the question of finding the set \(\Omega\) minimizing these eigenvalues among sets of given diameter. Let me mention that the same problem has been tackled (in a more complete way but with a slightly different technique) in the paper [\textit{B. Bogosel} et al., SIAM J. Math. Anal. 50, No. 5, 5337--5361 (2018; Zbl 1401.35217)]. By monotonicity of the eigenvalues with respect to inclusion, it is easy to see that this minimization problem has always a solution which is a (convex) body of constant width. Then restricting to plane domains, the authors identify indexes for which the disk is a local minimizer (namely \(k\in \{1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 17, 27, 34, 42\}\)) and indexes for which the disk is not a local minimizer (when \(k\notin \{1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 16, 17, 26, 27, 33, 34, 41, 42, 50\}\). The gap of values not treated in this paper is filled in the paper [loc. cit.].
