The authors study generalized two-wavelet multipliers in the context of the directional short-time Fourier transform. They obtain boundedness, compactness and Schatten class (an \(L^q\) generalization of trace class) results on \(L^p\) under reasonable assumptions on the multipliers and symbols. As an application, they study the generalized Landau-Pollak-Slepian operator which is shown to be unitarily equivalent to a scalar multiple of an explicit generalized two-wavelet multiplier. Consequently, they are able to prove a generalized Donoho-Stark type uncertainty principle for such an operator and some approximation inequalities concerning almost time and almost bandlimited signals.
