The paper follows the articles [\textit{A. Atzmon} and \textit{G. Godefroy}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I, Math. 332, No. 2, 151--156 (2001; Zbl 1008.47006); \textit{A. Atzmon} et al., Positivity 8, No. 2, 101--107 (2004; Zbl 1088.47004)] and contains sufficient conditions for the existence of invariant subspaces for operators on real Banach spaces. The main result of the paper is as follows. Theorem. Let \(T\) be a linear continuous operator on a real Banach space of dimension at least \(2\) and there exists a non-trivial closed cone \(C\) in this space such that \(P(T)C\subset C\) for all real polynomials \(P\) in one variable taking nonnegative values on the real axis. Then \(T\) has a non-trivial invariant subspace. The author also obtains some properties of operators without invariant subspaces.
