In this paper, the author gives explicit theta correspondence for \(p\)-adic unitary dual pairs \(U(2)\times U(1)\) and \(U(2)\times U(3).\) Here \(U(2)\) is a hermitian unitary group related to a 2-dimensional hermitian space over an quadratic extension of a \(p\)-adic field and \(U(1)\) and \(U(3)\) are analogous groups but related to one and three-dimensional skew-hermitian spaces. Also, from these results, the author derives the description of theta lifts for \(p\)-adic quaternionic unitary groups of rank one. Although these results are, more or less known by the work of \textit{W. T. Gan} and \textit{A. Ichino} [Invent. Math. 206, No. 3, 705--799 (2016; Zbl 1358.11061)] couple of years ago, the author's approach is a bit different, and can be viewed as an extension of the work of Gelbart, Rogawski and Soudry [\textit{S. Gelbart} et al., Ann. Math. (2) 145, No. 3, 419--476 (1997; Zbl 1068.11502)]. Namely, the author gives his results in terms of the endoscopy. The main contribution here is the explicit description of the lifts when the hermitian unitary group \(U(2)\) is the anisotropic group, while Gelbart, Rogawski and Soudry [loc. cit.] gave the description of the lifts for \(U(2)\times U(3)\) when \(U(2)\) is split. The other result of this paper is concerned with the theta correspondence between the smallest non-trivial hermitian and skew-hermitian quaternionic unitary groups (which are compact). The proof of this result relies on the fact that these groups are subgroups of the anisotropic \(U(2),\) so the author carefully analyzes an appropriate restriction of the Weil representation for the pair \(U(2)\times U(1)\) (anisotropic).
