The book is devoted to the theory and applications of decision making methods, which use intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The intutionistic fuzzy set was introduced by Atanasov in 1986. It is introduced as a triplet \(<x, \mu_A(x), \nu_A(x), ~x \in X>\), where \(X\) is a given fixed set, \(\mu_A: X \rightarrow [0,1]\) is a membership function, \(\nu_A: X \rightarrow [0,1]\) is a non-membership function and functions \(\mu_A,~ \nu_A\) satisfy inequalities \(0 \leq \mu_A(x) + \nu_A(x) \leq 1 \) for all \(x \in X\). Function \(\pi_A(x) = 1 - \mu_A(x) - \nu_A(x),~ x \in X\) expresses the hesitance degree. The first chapter of the book develops basic properties of the intuitionistic fuzzy set, which are necessary in further parts of the book. Chapter 2 brings a review of various definitions of distance and similarity measures known of the literature. Further psychological distance and similarity measures for intuitionistic fuzzy sets are introduced. In Chapter 3 the authors introduce the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy Bayesian network and investigate properties of a dynamic intuitionistic fuzzy decision making model. The concept of decision field theory is established and used as a basis for intuitionistic fuzzy decision model. The model is the extended to touch also group decisions. The last Chapter 5 is devoted to decision making methods under probabilistic and cognitive environment and their relations to methods based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Theoretical material is accompanied with case studies demonstrating applications of the theoretical results. Case studies oriented to marine energy transportation, mine emergency accidents and comparison of country investment policy are considered.
