The concept of the annihilating-ideal graph of a commutative ring was introduced by \textit{M. Behboodi} and \textit{Z. Rakeei} [J. Algebra Appl. 10, No. 4, 727--739 (2011; Zbl 1276.13002); ibid. 10, No. 4, 741--753 (2011; Zbl 1276.13003)]. In this paper, the authors extend this concept to hypergraphs. As a prelude for this extension, the authors define \(k\)-annihilating-ideal in a commutative ring. For a commutative ring \(R\) and an integer \(k\geq 2,\) \(A(R,k)\) denotes the set of all \(k\)-annihilating ideals of \(R.\) The \(k\)-annihilating ideal hypergraph of \(R,\) denoted by \(\mathbb{AG}_k(R),\) is a hypergraph with vertex set \(A(R,k),\) and for distinct elements \(I_1,I_2,\ldots,I_k\) in \(A(R, k),\) the set \(\{I_1,I_2,\ldots, I_k\}\) is an edge of \(\mathbb{AG}_k(R)\) if and only if \(\prod\limits_{i=1}^n I_i = (0)\) and the product of any \(k-1\) elements of \(\{I_1,I_2,\ldots, I_k\}\) is nonzero. The authors provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the completeness of 3-annihilating ideal hypergraph of commutative rings. Further, they study the planarity of \(\mathbb{AG}_3(R)\) and characterized all commutative rings \(R\) whose 3-annihilating ideal hypergraph \(\mathbb{AG}_3(R)\) is planar.
