Let \(G\) be a connected real reductive Lie group with a fixed maximal compact subgroup \(K\). Let \(\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{k} + \mathfrak{p}\) be the corresponding Cartan decomposition, where \(\mathfrak{g}\) is the Lie algebra of \(G\). Using the adjoint action of \(K\) on \(\mathfrak{p}\), the Cartan motion group is defined as \(G_0=K \ltimes \mathfrak{p}\). Let \(\widehat{G_0}\) be the unitary dual of \(G_0\) and let \(\widetilde{G}\) be the tempered dual of \(G\). In the paper [the author, J. Funct. Anal. 277, No. 7, 2237--2258 (2019; Zbl 1430.46052)] a bijection (called the Mackey-Higson bijection) has been established from \(\widehat{G_0}\) to \(\widetilde{G}\). Main result of the paper under review is Theorem 5.3, which realizes the Mackey-Higson bijection as a deformation using the existence of a family of groups interpolating between \(G\) and \(G_0\). More precisely, for each \(\pi\in \widetilde{G}\), the author builds a family of subspaces in an appropriate Fréchet space and evolution operators which contract \(\pi\) onto its counterpart of \(G_0\).
