The authors study the existence of multiple positive solutions for perturbed Hammerstein integral equations. An existence result, Theorem 2.5, is proved via fixed point index theory in a nonstandard cone. The proof is detailed and complete. An application to the modeling of the deflection of an elastic beam with nonlocal controllers is presented and two examples are given.
