In this paper, some results of nonsmooth analysis from the Euclidean context are extended to the Riemannian manifolds setting. Moreover, a version of the Newton method for finding a singularity of a special class of locally Lipschitz continuous vector fields is presented. This method is similar to that of the classical Newton method; however, in the approximated problem, obtained by the Newton method, the exponential mapping on the manifold is combined with an element of the Clarke generalized covariant derivative of the vector field, as the covariant derivative of a locally Lipschitz continuous vector field may not exist. Especially, when the vector field is continuously differentiable, this method reduces to the classical Newton method. Assuming the conditions of regularity and semismoothness, the well-definedness and local convergence of the method are proved in a neighborhood of a singularity.
