A coupled elliptic Schrödinger semilinear system on the whole space \(\mathbb{R}^N\) is studied in this paper in the cases \(N=1,2,3\). This system arises in several different applications and a number of results concerning existence and multiplicity of positive solutions have been already obtained in previous papers collected in a large bibliography. The authors provide results concerning both non-existence (Theorem 1.1) and existence and multiplicity of positive solutions by using global bifurcation in the multi-parameter situation and the Leray-Schauder degree. This gives the existence of continua (in the sense of general topology) of solutions. We notice that results are quite different in dimensions 1, 2 on the one side and 3 on the other side.
