Let \(G(d,r,n)\) (\(d,r,n \in \mathbb{N} \setminus \{0\}\) and \(r | d\)) be a complex reflection group with parameters \(d,r,n\) (a definition in terms of generators and relations is given on page 375 of the paper under review). These groups are generated by complex reflections and have the Coxeter groups of types \(A_{n-1}\), \(B_{n}\) and \(D_{n}\) as special cases. The authors slightly modify the definition of \textit{fully commutative} elements: their definition is based on a normal form for elements in \(G(d,1,n)\) using a refined presentation. A definition of fully commutative elements for \(G(d,r,n)\) is given through the natural embedding into \(G(d,1,n)\). With this new definition, fully commutative elements for \(D_{n}\) do not coincide with fully commutative elements of \(G(2,2,n)\). The purpose of this article is to decompose the set of fully commutative elements into natural subsets according to their combinatorial properties, and investigate the structure of these decompositions. As a consequence, the authors enumerate and describe the form of these elements for the complex reflection groups. The background required is too vast for a detailed description of the results obtained.
