The authors disprove the conjecture formulated in [\textit{J. Fernández de Bobadilla} et al., J. Topol. 11, No. 4, 958--966 (2018; Zbl 1409.32024)] stating that the multiplicity of a germ of analytic singularity is a bi-Lipschitz invariant. More precisely, they construct an infinite family of counterexamples consisting of 3-dimensional hypersurface germs which are cones over different embeddings of the direct product \(\mathbb CP^1 \times \mathbb CP^1\) to complex projective spaces. In conclusion, the authors underline that in general the question of the bi-Lipschitz invariance of the multiplicity of complex hypersurface germs of dimension greater than or equal to 3 still remains open.
