For a self-map \(f:X\to X\), the Nielsen number of \(f\) is a lower bound for the number of fixed points among all maps homotopic to \(f\). When \(U\subset X\) is an open set, we may consider ``local maps'' \(f:U \to X\). In this setting, a local Nielsen number \(n(f;U)\) has been defined, which is a lower bound for the number of fixed points among all local maps with domain \(U\) homotopic to \(f\) (by homotopies which do not create fixed points on the boundary of \(U\)). The present paper extends results of [\textit{P. R. Heath}, Pac. J. Math. 117, 267--289 (1985; Zbl 0571.55002)] and [\textit{P. R. Heath} et al., Topology Appl. 67, No. 2, 133--157 (1995; Zbl 0845.55004)], in particular the ``naive addition formula'' which expresses the Nielsen number on the fibre space as a sum of appropriate Nielsen numbers in the fibres. The author demonstrates many preliminaries concerning the fixed point index which are necessary to compute the desired Nielsen numbers. He then derives addition formulas for \(n(f;U)\) using similar hypotheses to those used in [Heath et al., loc. cit.]. The author gives several nice examples which demonstrate the addition formulas.
