Given a family of metric continua \(\{X_{\alpha}:\alpha\in J\}\), the product \(X=\prod_{\alpha\in J}X_{\alpha}\) has the full projections imply connected open neighborhoods (fupcon) property if for each subcontinuum \(M\) of \(X\) such that \(\pi_{\alpha}(M)=X_{\alpha}\) for each \(\alpha\in J\) (\(\pi_{\alpha}\) is the \(\alpha\)th projection) and for each open subset \(U\) of \(X\) containing \(M\), there exists an open connected subset \(V\) of \(X\) such that \(M\subset V\subset U\). A metric continuum \((X,d_{X})\) is a Kelley continuum provided that for each \(\epsilon>0\), there exists \(\delta>0\) such that if \(A\) is a subcontinuum of \(X\), \(p\in A\) and \(q\in X\) satisfy that \(d_{X}(p,q)<\delta\), then there exists a subcontinuum \(B\) of \(X\) such that \(q\in B\) and \(H(A,B)<\varepsilon\), where \(H\) is the Hausdorff metric for the hyperspace of subcontinua of \(X\). The fupcon property was introduced by \textit{D.P. Bellamy} and \textit{J. M. Łysko} [Topol. Proc. 44, 223--231 (2014; Zbl 1325.54016)], where the authors proved that the product of two Knaster continua has the fupcon property. The same happens for the product of two pseudo-arcs. In [\textit{A. Illanes}, Acta Math. Hung. 148, No. 1, 73--82 (2016; Zbl 1374.54035)] it was proved that the product of the pseudo-arc and a Knaster continuum has the fupcon property. It was also shown that if the product of two continua has the fupcon property, then each factor is a Kelley continuum. In [\textit{A. Illanes} et al., Topology Appl. 241, 172--184 (2018; Zbl 1401.54017)] it was proved that the product of a chainable Kelley continuum and the interval [0,1] has the fupcon property. In the paper under review the author makes a thorough adaptation of the proof given by Illanes, Martínez-Montejano and Villarreal, to extend all the mentioned results by showing that the product of two chainable Kelley continua has the fupcon property.
