The authors define the Hankel-Stockwell transform (HST) and investigate the Heisenberg uncertainty principle for this transform. The Stockwell transform (S-transform) is a generalization of the short-time Fourier transform and extends the continuous wavelet transform. The Hankel transform \(H_\alpha\), for specific values of parameter \(\alpha\), is related to the multi-dimensional Fourier transform. Replacing the role of the Fourier transform in the definition of the \(S\)-transform leads to the definition of the HST. Uncertainty principle for the Hankel transform was proved in \textit{M. Rösler} and \textit{M. Voit} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 127, No. 1, 183--194 (1999; Zbl 0910.44003)] and then extended in [\textit{R. Ma}, Pac. J. Math. 235, No. 2, 289--296 (2008; Zbl 1149.43007)]. In the paper under review an uncertainty principle for the HST \(S_\psi\) is established, where \(\psi\) is an admissible window function in \(L^2((0,\infty), d\nu_\alpha)\), \(d\nu_\alpha(x)=\frac{x^{2\alpha+1}}{2^\alpha\Gamma(\alpha+1)}dx\), \(\alpha\ge-1/2\). The proof is based on the relevant uncertainty principle for the Hankel transform. Also, a quantitative version of Shapiro's mean dispersion theorem for the HST is proved. An excellent survey on uncertainty principles is [\textit{G. B. Folland} and \textit{A. Sitaram}, J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 3, No. 3, 207--238 (1997; Zbl 0885.42006)].
