Let \(\phi : R \to S\) denote a homomorphism of two commutative rings with identity. For an ideal \(I \subseteq S\) let \(R \bowtie^{\phi} I = \{(a,\phi(a) + i) | a \in R, i \in I\}\) the subring of \(R \times S\) called the amalgation of \(R\) with \(S\) along \(I\) with respect to \(\phi\). This construction is introduced by \textit{M. D'Anna} et al. [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 214, No. 9, 1633--1641 (2010; Zbl 1191.13006)] as a generalization of the amalgated duplication of a ring along an ideal. Moreover, they have shown that \(R \bowtie^{\phi} I \) is Noetherian if and only if \(R\) and \(\phi(R) +I\) are Noetherian. In the present paper the author studies when \(R \bowtie^{\phi} I \) is an Artinian ring. This is done by the results of (see loc. cit.) and Akizuki's Theorem that an Artinian ring is a zero-dimensional Noetherian ring.
