In the closed set \(Q_{l,T}=\{(x,t):0\le x\le l,\ 0\le t\le T\}\), the author considers the following boundary value problem for a moisture-transfer type equation with variable coefficients and comprised \(\partial_{0t}^\alpha u\), the Caputo fractional derivative of order \(\alpha\in (0,1)\): \[\partial_{0t}^\alpha u= \frac{1}{x^m}\left(x^mk(x,t)\frac{\partial u}{\partial x}\right) +\frac{1}{x^m}\frac{\partial^2}{\partial x\partial t} \left(x^m\eta(x,t)\frac{\partial u}{\partial x}\right)+ r(x,t)\frac{u}{\partial x}-q(x,t)u+f(x,t),\] and the boundary conditions are \(\displaystyle\lim_{x\to 0}(ku_x+(\eta u_x)_t)=0, u(x,0)=u_0(x)\) and \(u(l,t)=0\) for \((x,t)\in Q_T\). The functions \(k,\eta,q,f,r\) are bounded and the derivatives \(\eta_t,r_x,k_x,\eta_{tt}\) are also bounded. A priori estimates for the solution in difference form are treated in the second section. The use of the finite difference method is used in the third section. The uniqueness of the solution is conducted in the fourth section. The fifth section focuses on the stability and convergence of the difference scheme.
