In this paper, the authors study the size of fluctuations arising in the stochastic homogenization asymptoptics of linear elliptic systems with random coefficients. Motivated by the concept of \(H\)-convergence, they propose to use a so-called homogenization commutator - an intrinsic quantity which appears to be involved in the structure of correctors for both fields and fluxes. For the particular case of the random conductance model, they show that the homogenization commutator drives at leading order the fluctuations (in a strong norm in probability), which is expressed in a suitable two-scale expansion. This way of looking at the problem is able to reveal the structure of the pathwise fluctuations in the stochastic homogenization.
