It is shown that for the quintic BBM PDE \[(u^3)_t+(u^5)_x+u_{xxx}+\varepsilon(u_{xx}+u_{xxxx})=0\tag{*}\] the following results are true: \begin{itemize} \item[(1)] For any sufficiently small \(\varepsilon>0\), there exists \(\varepsilon^*>0\), \(\varepsilon\in[0,\varepsilon^*]\) and \(h\in[\delta, 1/12]\), such that equation \((*)\) has two periodic wave solutions \(u_{\pm}=\pm cz(\varepsilon,h,c,\tau),\) where \(c=c(\varepsilon, h)\), and \(z(\varepsilon, h, c, \tau)\) is a solution of the equation \[-z^3(\tau)+z^5(\tau+z''(\tau)+\varepsilon(\frac{1}{c}z'(\tau)+cz'''(\tau))=0,\] and \(\delta\) is a small positive number. \item[(2)] The function \(c = c(\varepsilon, h)\) is smooth in \(\varepsilon\) and \(h\), and converges to \(c_0(h)\) as \(\varepsilon\to0\), where \(c_0(h)\) is a smooth decreasing function for \(h\in (0, 1/12]\) and \(\sqrt{2}/2\leq c_0(h)< 8/9\), \(\lim_{h\to0} c_0(h)= 8/9\), and \(\lim c_0(h)= \sqrt{2}/2\). \item[(3)] For fixed \(h\in (0, 1/12]\), when \(\varepsilon\to0\), the quantity \(z(\varepsilon, h, c, \tau)\) converges to some \(z(h, c_0(h), \tau)\) uniformly in \(\tau\), where \(z(h, c_0(h), \tau)\) is a solution of the differential system \[z'=y, y'=z^3-z^5\] lying on the curve \(-\frac{1}{2}y^2-\frac{1}{6}z^6+\frac{1}{4}z^4 =h\). \end{itemize}
