To achieve accurate resolution performance for acoustic wave simulation containing a discontinuous solution, the authors propose a new high-resolution shock-capturing scheme for the compressible Euler equation. An optimized compact scheme based on the five-point stencil for improving the resolution characteristic is established. The limitation of the monotonicity-preserving (MP) constraints for a non-monotone smooth solution under a high-wavenumber condition is found. In addition, the modified version of the large curvature term with the new indicator and criterion is proposed. Several numerical tests in one dimension are presented to support the theoretical results.
