The paper is concerned with the formulation and analysis of the discontinuous Galerkin method applied to the Helmholtz transmission problem in two-level homogeneous media. This problem contains two Helmholtz equations with different wave numbers on subdomains equipped with the first-order absorbing condition on the outer boundary and two transmission conditions on the interface. Using special test functions and the Rellich identity, the absolute stability of the method is established without any restrictions on the mesh. Furthermore, error estimates with respect to both \(L^2\) and \(H^1\) norms are rigorously derived. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted for the Helmholtz transmission problem on the regular hexagon to confirm the theoretical results and illustrate the efficiency of the method.
