A second order elliptic equation in a domain \(D\) which satisfies an exterior cone condition, with smooth ``exterior forces'' and coefficients, is considered. If the boundary \(\partial D\) satisfies a specific regularity (the exterior Reifenberg-Dini condition) and is \(C^1\) at a point \(x_0 \in \partial D\), then boundary differentiability of the solution near \(x_0\) is proved. Some methods given in [\textit{Y. Huang} et al., Manuscr. Math. 143, No. 3--4, 525--541 (2014; Zbl 1296.35051)] are used and these results are improved. An useful history of the problem is given in the first part, related also with the Hopf-Oleinik Lemma. An example is given, to prove that the present paper extends also the results given in [\textit{F. Ma} et al., J. Differ. Equations 263, No. 5, 2672--2686 (2017; Zbl 1382.35132)]. The main result is obtained by using some upper-lower estimates of the solution and a very interesting iterative procedure.
