Let \((X,d)\) be a complex valued metric space and \(S\), \(T\) be two self-mappings on \(X\). The authors prove a coincidence point result for \(S\) and \(T\) under the following Pata-type contractive condition: \(d(Sz,Sw)\preceq(1-\epsilon)d(Tz,Tw)+\tau\epsilon^{\alpha}\Gamma(\epsilon)[1+\|Tz\|+\|Tw\|]^{\beta}\), for each \(\epsilon\in[0,1]\), for all \(z,w\in X\), and for some \(\tau\ge0\), \(\alpha\ge1\), \(\beta\in[0,\alpha)\), and a nondecreasing function \(\Gamma:[0,1]\to[0,+\infty)\), continuous at zero, with \(\Gamma(0)=0\). Two examples and an application to integral equations are presented.
