    This paper deals with the fixed-time tracking problem of uncertain nonlinear system and its main three contributions are the following. (1) A new sufficient stability criterion which provides a new solution for the fixed-time control problem under the adaptive control frame. (2) Based on this criterion a novel adaptive control scheme is proposed for nonlinear uncertain systems, which is expressed as a nonlinear differential equation. This novel design guarantees the fixed-time stability of nonlinear system, which cannot be done by the previously existing design method of parameter adaptive law. (3) In order to prove the fixed-time stability, two novel inequalities are established, which are very important in the fixed-time stability analysis of the closed-loop system. The effectiveness of the obtained result is illustrated by the final simulations.
