A new one-parameter family of modified Cauchy method for searching simple roots of nonlinear equations using Padé approximant is investigated. The method admits third order of convergence. New optimal, in the sense of Kung-Traub's conjecture, fourth-order families of iterative methods are also considered. Numerical experiments allow the authors to show that some members of the considered family have a very stable behavior.
