The author discusses fixed point theorems for \(\alpha\)-concave and compact operators in a Banach space. These results can be seen as variants of Krasnoselskii's theorem [\textit{M. A. Krasnosel'skij}, Usp. Mat. Nauk 9, No. 3(61), 57--114 (1954; Zbl 0056.11401), Transl., Ser. 2, Am. Math. Soc. 10, 345--409 (1958; Zbl 0080.10403)]. The author proves the following result: Let \(G\) be an open convex subset of a Banach space \(B:=(B,\|\cdot\|)\). Suppose that \(A:B\to B\) is a contraction, that is, there is \(\alpha\in(0,1)\) such that \(\|Ax-Ay\|\le\alpha\|x-y\|\) for all \(x,y\in B\) and \(T:\overline{G}\to B\) is a continuous mapping such that \(T\overline{G}\) is precompact in \(B\). Suppose that \(x\in\overline{G}\) whenever \(x=Ax+Ty\) and \(y\in\partial G\). Then there exists \(x^*\in\overline{G}\) such that \(x^*=Ax^*+Tx^*\). Using the notion of a partial order defined by a closed convex cone, the author also presents two results for the existence of a solution of the equation \(x=F(x,x)\). Some examples of applications are also given.
