Let \((X,d)\) be a complete metric space, \(A\) and \(B\) be closed subsets of \(X\) and \(T:A\cup B\to A\cup B\) be a cyclic operator, i.e., \(T(A)\subset B\) and \(T(B)\subset A\). In this paper, the authors give some metric conditions on \(T\) which implies that there exists \(x^*\in A\cup B\) such that \(d(x^*,T(x^*))=\operatorname{dist}(A,B)\).
