The notion of $F$-contraction, which is one of the several generalizations of the Banach contraction, was defined by \textit{D. Wardowski} [Fixed Point Theory Appl. 2012, Paper No. 94, 6 p. (2012; Zbl 1310.54074)]. For several extensions of the results of Wardowski, one may refer to references in the present paper. Moreover, this paper studies the the notion of modified $F$-contraction [\textit{D. Wardowski} and \textit{Nguyen Van Dung}, Demonstr. Math. 47, No. 1, 146--155 (2014; Zbl 1287.54046)] on metric-like spaces, which has prompted the authors to investigate the problem of the existence of non-linear Fredholm integral equations on time scales. Different types of generalizations on metric spaces inspired the construction of the present research in the framework of metric-like spaces. The results are claimed to be valid in metric spaces, also owing to the fact that metric spaces are considered as special cases or as a special type of metric-like spaces. Section~3 considers contractions of $(phi, F)$-type given in Section~2, main theoretical results including existence-uniqueness theorems on metric-like spaces. Section~4 considers applications of the main results to non-linear Fredholm integral equations.
