Let \(A\) be a \(C^*\)-algebra and \(E\) be a Hilbert \(A\)-module and \(K(E)\) be the ideal of compact operators on \(H\). \textit{H. Lin} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 83, No. 1, 199--234 (2001; Zbl 1015.46031)] introduced the concept of tracial topological rank for \(C^*\)-algebras. In this paper, the authors characterize the tracial topological rank of \(K(E)\). They prove that \(K(E)\) preserves exactness, quasidiagonality, and nuclearity if so is the \(C^*\)-algebra \(A\), respectively. If \(A\) is an \(A\mathbb{T}\)-algebra, then they prove that \(K(E)\) is an \(A\mathbb{T}\)-algebra if and only if \(K(E)\) is a \(\sigma_p\)-unital \(C^*\)-algebra. Recall that \(A\) is a \(\sigma_p\)-unital \(C^*\)-algebra if there is an approximate unit \(\{p_n\}\) of \(A\) consisting a sequence of projections in \(A\). If \(A\) is isomorphic to \(C(\mathbb{T})\otimes F\) for some finite-dimensional \(C^*\)-algebra \(F\), then \(A\) is called a circle algebra. If \(A\) is isomorphic to an inductive limit of a sequence of circle algebras, then \(A\) is called an \(A\mathbb{T}\)-algebra, where \(\mathbb{T}=\{z\in \mathbb{C}: |z|=1\}\).
