This paper focuses on transversality, broadly speaking, a classical concept that describes how spaces intersect. In other words, the focus of this article is on the various intersection and sum formulae for tangent and normal cones and their impact on derivative rules for subdifferentials and generalized derivatives in variational analysis. By employing ceratin uniform tangent sets, a new notion of strong tangential transversality is proposed. An interesting recap of some of the developments surrounding the Clarke subdifferential is presented, and some of the results are generalized. One of the main contributions is a new sum formula for the Clarke subdifferentials, which is shown to subsume many known results. This is a nice paper that you would be of interest to the optimization and variational analysis community.
