The authors consider the Cauchy problem \begin{align*} \partial_t u(x,y,t) &= \partial_x^2 u(x,y,t) + \partial_y^2 u(x,y,t) + f(x,y,t), \quad x \in (0,1), (y,t) \in\mathbb{R}^2,\\ u(0,y,t) &= \varphi(y,t),\\ \partial_x u(0,y,t) &= \psi(y,t), \end{align*} with \(f\), \(\varphi\) and \(\psi\) being given functions. This problem is well known to be ill-posed. Based on the standard Fourier transform technique, the authors propose a routine regularization method and prove some error estimates for the solution and its derivative at \(x =1\) when the Cauchy data \(\varphi\) and \(\psi\) are imprecisely given. Some numerical examples are presented.
