Let \(\lambda:R\to S\) be a homomorphism of unital rings and let the functor \(-\otimes_R S:\text{Modr }R\to \text{Modr }S\) be extension of scalars. A property \(\mathbf P\) associated to a complex of modules \textsl{ascends} along \(\lambda\) if the functor \(-\otimes_R S\) preserves the property \(\mathbf CCP\). The property \(\mathbf CP\) \textsl{descends} along \(\lambda\) if a complex \(\mathbf{C}\) in \(\text{Modr }R\) satisfies \(\mathbf CP\) provided that \(\mathbf{C}\otimes_R S\) satisfies \(\mathbf CP\) as a complex of right \(S\)-modules. The author in this paper gives a characterization for the ascending property of \(2\)-term silting complexes. When, the rings are commutative, he shows that the ascending property of \(2\)-term silting complexes is valid along all ring homomorphisms and the silting property associated to \(2\)-term complexes descends along all faithfully flat ring homomorphisms.
