Given a positive semi-definite operator \(A\) on a complex Hilbert space \(\mathcal H\), let us consider the induced semi-norm \(\|x\|_A=\langle Ax,x\rangle^{1/2}\) for \(x\in\mathcal H\). An operator \(T\in \mathcal B(\mathcal H)\) is called \(A\)-bounded if for some \(\lambda>0\) one has \(\|Tx\|_A\leq \lambda \|x\|_A\) for every \(x\in \mathcal H\). In that case, one can define \(\|T\|_A=\sup\{\|Tx\|_A:\|x\|_A=1\}\). Motivated by earlier work of \textit{A. Saddi} [Aust. J. Math. Anal. Appl. 9, No. 1, Article No. 5, 12 p. (2012; Zbl 1259.47022)], in the paper under review the author defines the \(A\)-spectral radius of an \(A\)-bounded operator \(T\) as \(r_A(T)=\inf_n \|T^n\|_A^{\frac1n}\), and provides an analog of Gelfand's formula for the spectral radius. Moreover, one can also consider the \(A\)-numerical radius of an operator as \[ \omega_A(T)=\sup\{|\langle ATx,x\rangle|:\|x\|_A=1\}. \] It is shown that for \(A\)-bounded operators, one has \[ r_A(T)\leq \omega_A(T)\leq \|T\|_A, \] extending well-known inequalities for the case when \(A\) is the identity on \(\mathcal H\). The interested reader is referred to this well-written paper for details and further results.
