The authors' main aim in this paper is to develop an improved theoretical model of physical processes occurring in electrical batteries with porous electrodes now commonly used in numerous practical appliances. Their homogenized dimensionless model includes anisotropy, thermal and electrochemical processes whose dynamics is described by equations for three domains with different scale lengths: the battery as a whole, its cells and the microscopic region where contributions of particle motions and particle shapes are taken into account in treating the diffusion effect. This way, the presented model can be subject to further refinements by additional inclusion of more complex physical phenomena occurring in batteries such as degradation, for example.
