The paper is devoted to the study of the generalized Dirichlet series \(D_\lambda(s)=\sum_{\lambda}\frac{a(n)}{\lambda_n^s}\) with associated smoothed summatory function \(A^{(\lambda)}_v(x)={\sum '}_{\lambda_n\leq x}a(n)v(\lambda_n/x)\) for \(0<\lambda_1<\lambda_2<\ldots\), \(\lambda_n\to \infty\), the real coefficients \(a(n)\) (not all zeros), a weight function \(v(\cdot)\) satisfying conditions on behaviour like piecewise smooth and that takes values halfway between jump discontinuities, and the meaning of \(\sum '\) that last term is to be multiplied by \(\frac{1}{2}\) if \(x\) is an integer. In addition, it is assumed that the Mellin transform for the function \(v(\cdot)\) is \(V(s)=\int_{0}^{\infty}v(x)x^s \frac{dx}{x}\). In the paper, it is show that a non-real pole of \(D_\lambda(s)V(s):=\int_{1}^{\infty}\frac{A_v^{(\lambda)}(x)}{x^{s+1}}dx\) corresponds to an oscillatory error term for \(A_v^{(\lambda)}(x):=\frac{1}{2 \pi i}\int_{\sigma-i\infty}^{\sigma+i\infty}D_\lambda(s)V(s)x^sds\). Similar result is obtained when there are infinitely many non-real poles close to a line \(s=\sigma\) with \(\sigma \geq \sigma_0\) (\(\sigma_0\) is a supremum of the real parts of the non-real poles of \(D_\lambda(s)V(s)\)).
