Let \(S\) be the unit sphere of a normed plane. Given \(x,y\in S\) we say that \(x\) is \(B\)-orthogonal to \(y\) if \(\|x\|\leq \|x+\lambda y\|\) for all \(\lambda\in \mathbb{R}\). \(x\in S\) is an Auerbach point if there exists \(y\in S\) such that \(x\) is \(B\)-orthogonal to \(y\) and \(y\) is \(B\)-orthogonal to \(x\). Every point of \(S\) is an Auerbach point if and only if the plane is a Radon plane, for instance the Euclidean case. The usual angular measure \(\mu\) on the Euclidean sphere \(S\) verifies that 1) \(\mu(S)=2\pi\), 2) \(\mu(C)=\mu (-C)\) for every Borel subset \(C\) of \(S\), 3) \(\mu\) is continuous, and 4) \(\mu(C)=\pi/2\) for every minor arc \(C\) with endpoints \(x\) and \(y\) such that \(x\) is \(B\)-orthogonal to \(y\). Let us consider the set \(A\) of Auerbach points of a normed plane that do not belong to a non-degenerate line segment on \(S\). The authors prove that there exists a measure on \(S\) that verifies the conditions from 1) to 4) above if and only if \(A\) is uncountable. They also present an example of normed plane such that the set of Auerbach points has Lebesgue measure zero but \(A\) is uncountable.
