The present article deals with the continued fraction expansion and Diophantine approximations. The authors note a significant role of Khintchine's and Jarník's theorems. Also, the attention is given to Dirichlet's theorem and \(\phi\)-Dirichlet improvable numbers. Some properties of continued fractions and pressure functions are recalled. Let \(\varphi: \mathbb N \to \mathbb R^{+}\) be a positive function and \(m \ge 1\) be an integer. The present article is devoted to investigations of the Lebesgue measure and the Hausdorff dimension of the following set: \[ E_m(\varphi)=\{x\in[0,1): a_n(x)\cdots a_{n+m-1}(x)\ge \varphi(n) \text{ for infinitely many } n\in\mathbb N\}, \] where \(x=[0; a_1,a_2,\dots]\) is the continued fraction expansion of \(x\in [0,1)\). For this set, known results are described for the cases when \(m=1\) and \(m=2\). The main theorems on the Lebesgue measure and the Hausdorff dimension of \(E_m(\varphi)\) are proven with explanations. Several auxiliary statements are proven.
