In this paper, some constructions of locally recoverable codes from maximal curves are presented. A code \(C\) of length \(n\) over the alphabet \(F\) is said to be locally recoverable with locality \(r\) if and only if for all \(j \in [n] := \{1, \ldots , n\}\) there exists \(A_j \subseteq [n] \setminus \{ j\}\) with \(|A_j| = r\) and \(c_j = \phi_j(c|A_j )\) for some function \(\phi_j : A_j \rightarrow F\) for all \(c \in C\). The set \(A_j\) is called a recovery set for the \(j\)-th coordinate. If every symbol has at least two disjoint recovery sets, the code \(C\) is said to have availability. First, codes with locality from the cyclic extension \(\tilde{S}_q\) of the Suzuki curve \(S_q\) and the cyclic extension \(\tilde{R}_q\) of the Ree curve \(R_q\) are constructed. Next, codes with availability from \(\tilde{S}_q\) and \(\tilde{R}_q\) are constructed. Furthermore, constructions from products of codes are considered. Several interesting examples are given.
