Let \(X\) be a compact Kähler manifold with a very ample line bundle \(\mathcal{L}\). The aim of this paper is to prove that any positive definite hermitian form on the space \(H^0(X,\mathcal{L})\) of holomorphic sections can be written as an \(L^2\)-inner product with respect to an appropriate hermitian metric on \(\mathcal{L}\). The author applies this result to show that the Fubini-Study map, which associates a hermitian metric on \(\mathcal{L}\) to a hermitian form on \(H^0(X,\mathcal{L})\), is injective. This paper is organized as follows: The first section is an introduction to the subject and statement of the result. The second section deals with surjectivity of the Hilbert map. Generalisations to several variants of this map will be discussed in this Section. The third section is devoted to injectivity of the Fubini-Study map. The latter is defined as the pullback of the Fubini-Study metric on the projective space \(\mathbb{P}(H^0(X,\mathcal{L})^*)\).
