In the paper, sufficient conditions for the complete controllability of some semilinear fractional nonlocal evolution systems with finite delay in Banach spaces are derived. The authors use properties of resolvent operators, theory of measure of noncompactness, and Mönch fixed point theorem. Some new results are obtained. First, the authors propose a weaker definition of complete controllability. Then, the authors do not assume the Lipschitz continuity and other growth conditions imposed on the nonlinearity and nonlocal item (the nonlinear function is only supposed to be continuous) in comparison with the existing literatures. In addition, an appropriate complete space and a corresponding time delay item are introduced to conquer the difficulties caused by time delay. The main result of the paper is preceded by a list of basic definitions, as well as eight lemmas, in which the properties are established of the operators defined by the equation under consideration. The main theorem asserts complete controllability (in accordance with the introduced definition) of the considered equation under the assumptions made. An example is given for illustration.
