    The authors study conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the equation of the form \[ BMu(t) - Lu(t) = f(t), \quad 0 \leq t \leq T, \] where \(B, M,\) and \(L\) are closed linear operators on a complex Banach space \(E\) with \(D(L) \subseteq D(M),\) \(0 \in \rho(L)\) satisfying the following basic assumptions: \begin{itemize} \item[\((H_1)\)] \(B\) has the resolvent satisfying \[ \|(\lambda - B)^{-1}\|_{\mathcal{L}(E)} \leq \frac{c}{|\Re \lambda | + 1}, \quad \Re \lambda < a, \,\,a >0; \] \item[\((H_2)\)] \(L\) and \(M\) satisfy \[ \|M(\lambda M - L)^{-1}\|_{\mathcal{L}(E)} \leq \frac{c}{(|\lambda| +1)^\beta} \] for any \(\lambda \in \mathbb{C}\) with \(\Re \lambda \geq - c(1 + |\Im \lambda|)^\alpha, \,c>0,\, 0 < \beta \leq \alpha \leq 1;\) \item[\((H_3)\)] for the possibly multivalued linear operator \(A = LM^{-1},\) \(D(A) = M(D(L))\) it holds that \[ B^{-1}A^{-1} = A^{-1}B^{-1}. \] \end{itemize} As a particular case, the situation when \(B\) is the fractional differentiation operator of the Riemann-Liouville type is considered. Related inverse problems are also considered.
