Investigated is a neural system composed of two coupled networks, each of them having an internal connection architecture subject to a small-world topology with 2048 thermally sensitive identical Hodgkin-Huxley type neurons. Each network has 8192 local and 1046 nonlocal connections and the coupling between networks is a mean field coupling. The used model is the one developed by \textit{H. A. Braun} et al. [Int. J. Bifurcation Chaos Appl. Sci. Eng. 8, No. 4--5, 881--889 (1998; Zbl 0932.92008)], based on the Hodgkin-Huxley mathematical model. The main equation in model is: \[ C_m\frac{d{V_i}^j}{dt} = -{I^j}_{i,Na}-{I^j}_{i,K}-{I^j}_{i,sd}-{I^j}_{i,sa}-{I^j}_{i, L}+{I^j}_i \] where V denotes the action potential, \(j=1,2\) represents each network and i denotes the neurons belonging to the \(j\)-th network. All other terms are related to the ionic channels of neuron membrane, to the sub-threshold activation or internal and external contribution elements. The analysis of dynamical properties of the system is done experimentally by evaluating some defined synchronization quantifiers. The data are obtained by means of the computation of the Kuramoto order parameter, recurrence quantifier and elementary statistical tools.
