The exponential generating function of the Bernoulli numbers is \[H(t)=\frac{t}{e^{t}-1}, \quad t \in \mathbb{R}.\] The first results of the paper are about the convexity and logarithmic concavity of the function \[\mathfrak{H}_{\alpha}(t)=t^{\alpha} H(t^{-1})=\frac{t^{\alpha-1}}{e^{1 / t}-1}, \quad t \in(0, \infty),\] where \(\alpha\) is a real parameter. Using these results, the authors then derive several inequalities involving sums of rational expressions of exponential functions. In the fifth section of the paper, first complete monotonicity results are stated for a linear combination of finitely many trigamma functions, then the function \[F(t)=\frac{\prod_{i=1}^{m}\left[\Gamma\left(1+\nu_{i} t\right)\right]^{\nu_{i}^{\theta}} \prod_{j=1}^{n}\left[\Gamma\left(1+\tau_{j} t\right)\right]^{\tau_{j}^{\theta}}}{\prod_{i=1}^{m} \prod_{j=1}^{n}\left[\Gamma\left(1+\lambda_{i j} t\right)\right]^{\rho \lambda_{i j}}}\] is studied from the same point of view. In this expression, \(\lambda_{i j}>0\) for \(1 \leq i \leq m\), and \(1 \leq j \leq n\); furthermore \(\nu_{i}=\sum_{j=1}^{n} \lambda_{i j}\), and \(\tau_{j}=\sum_{i=1}^{m}\lambda_{i j}\) for \(1 \leq i \leq m\), and \(1 \leq j \leq n\).
