In this paper the authors compute part of the \(C_2\)-equivariant stable homotopy groups \(\pi_{n,n}^{C_2}\) by using the \(C_2\)-equivariant Adams spectral sequence. Write \(\eta\) for the \(C_2\)-equivariant Hopf map and \(\rho \colon S^{0,0} \to S^{1,1}\) for the inclusion of the fixed points into the \(1\)-sphere with antipodal \(C_2\)-action. The main result of the paper describes to what extent the powers of \(\eta\) are divisible by \(\rho\). Using this ingredient, the authors recover results of \textit{G. E. Bredon} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 73, 269--273 (1967; Zbl 0152.21803)] and \textit{P. S. Landweber} [Ann. Math. (2) 89, 125--137 (1969; Zbl 0174.26204)] on the image of the geometric fixed-points map \(\pi_{n,n}^{C_2} \to \pi_0\) as well as results of \textit{M. E. Mahowald} and \textit{D. C. Ravenel} [Topology 32, No. 4, 865--898 (1993; Zbl 0796.55008)] on the Mahowald root invariants of the elements \(2k\).
