The first main result of the paper under review is Theorem 1.: Given a closed symplectic manifold \((M, \omega )\) and an \(\omega\)-tamed almost complex structure \(J\), meaning \(\omega (\cdot , J\cdot )>0\), there exists a constant \(\bar{h}=\bar{h}(\omega , J)\) such that for any \(u: (\Sigma , j)\rightarrow M\) a non-constant \(J\)-holomorphic map of a closed Riemannian surface \((\Sigma , j)\) the energy of this map satisfies \(e(u)=\int _{\Sigma }|du|^2_{g_J}dvol _{\Sigma }=\int _{\Sigma }u^{\ast}\omega \geq \bar{h}\) for the metric \(g_y=g_J\omega (\cdot , J\cdot )\). This result was previously known for \(\Sigma =S^2\). The second result is the Theorem 1.4. which generalizes the previous theorem to a locally conformally symplectic \(M\).
