The author considers the differential equation \[\dot{\varphi}+\sin (\varphi)=B+A\cos (\omega t),\quad t, A,B, \omega \in \mathbb{R},\] and its complexification. This equation is used in the so-called resistively shunted junction (RSJ-)model of the Josephson junction which applies if the effect of the junction electric capacitance is negligible. An explicit representation of the monodromy transformation of the space of solutions is given. In the case of positive integer order, the square root of the monodromy transformation is derived by making use of a symmetry possessed by the associated double confluent Heun equation.
