This article discusses the fluid-structure interaction problems by using a distributed Lagrange multiplier in the spirit of the fictitious domain method. The authors investigate time integration methods of second order, based on backward differentiation formulae and on the Crank-Nicolson method. The stability properties are investigated and numerical experiments are included to support the theoretical findings.
